About Paul Hunn
I am an artist whose work represents the magic in the universe I fantasized about discovering as a child, in response to trauma. I was diagnosed as having Asperger's Syndrome as a teenager after a tumultuous home life and severely disrupted education. As an adult I have recently (~2021) learned that my symptoms are actually linked to trauma from early childhood in which I witnessed domestic violence and suffered narcissistic abuse. When a child experiences trauma it can often lead to 'Magical Thinking'. This is where the imagination becomes a refuge from the traumatic real world. For me, while still too young to understand the world around me, this went from simply daydreaming, to actively trying to find 'powers' day-to-day as part of play. All as a way to somehow let me abstractly fix the world around me. Here I show works that I create to appeal to that part of my brain.
